Each week, The Volusia Mom will round up what great work is happening out of our Volusia County Schools Career and Technical Education academies and programs.

What is Career & Technical Education? Career & Technical Education (CTE) provides rigorous instruction to prepare students for high-wage, high-skill, high-demand careers and/or postsecondary opportunities. For information on the different academies and programs, click here.

DeLand High School

Congratulations to the DeLand High School Bull Dog’s FFA Team on their State Championship in Poultry Evaluation! The Poultry Evaluation CDE test students’ skills in the production, processing, and marketing of chickens, turkeys, processed poultry products and eggs. By winning at this level, they will advance to Nationals


Atlantic High School

The Atlantic High School Academy of Law were on hand last week and attended the Daytona State College’s School of Emergency Services which hosts one of Florida’s largest Public Safety Job Fairs Recruiters representing nearly 70 agencies were in attendance.

Also at Atlantic, their class had a guest speaker from the U.S. Secret Service Agency out of Washington D.C.! 

Deltona High School

Deltona High’s Halloween came early in Food Science 3 class due to their National Convention this week!! All projects made to be “sold” at local retailers!  

University High School

University High School Marketing  had a fast and furious experience at Daytona International Speedway learning about the ins and outs of marketing as it relates to NASCAR!

Heritage Middle School

Ready to kick off the season of giving early? Heritage Middle School’s Ms. Mack’s class could use your support! The goal for this proposal is to get students engaged in real-world STEM activities in an effort to increase interest in STEM related careers and increase student achievement. Heritage Middle School’s goal for school year 2019-2020 states “If Heritage Middle School offers a safe and structured environment where teachers keep all students persevering with challenging tasks which provide for productive struggle through collaboration and/or writing, then overall student achievement will increase.”  Click here for more information!
