Each week, The Volusia Mom will round up what great work is happening out of our Volusia County Schools Career and Technical Education academies and programs.

What is Career & Technical Education? Career & Technical Education (CTE) provides rigorous instruction to prepare students for high-wage, high-skill, high-demand careers and/or postsecondary opportunities. For information on the different academies and programs, click here.

Deland High School

Communications Academy Alumni Zach Rivera excitedly found out this week that he was accepted as a Broadway World Student Blogger! Being a Student Blogger offers Zach the opportunity to be published under his own byline and publishing profile on both the local and College Center pages of the site for maximum exposure to their 5.5+ monthly visitors!

T. DeWitt Taylor-Middle High School

A couple of weeks ago, the Taylor Wildcat Construction program went on site with Habitat for Humanity in Sanford to lay out Taylor’s Construction Class’s 7th house they built.

Atlantic High School

Two members of the AHS Academy of Law and Government academy recently got promoted in the Daytona Beach Police Explorers Program! Congratulations to Rodricka for earning her position as Captain and Nate as Sergeant!

Deland Middle School

Congratulations to Deland Middle School Agriculture program’s Mrs. Carrie Owen who was recognized at the Volusia County School Board meeting for winning the FAAE Outstanding Teacher Award -AND- the Florida ACTE Outstanding Teacher of the Year award.
