The Volusia Mom Visits: The DAYTONA in One DAYTONA

Posted in: Daytona Beach

The DAYTONA, which is a part of the unique Marriott Autograph Collection hotel opened its doors in April and is located directly across from the world-famous Daytona International Speedway in One DAYTONA.

The 144-room boutique hotel is celebrating its Grand Opening this week. The Volusia Mom had the pleasure of attending a media tour of the hotel in March and a special opportunity to be one of the first to the try the delicious creations of The DAYTONA’s Executive Chef Jason Ward at Sir Malcolm earlier this month.

DINING & DRINKING

Travelers and locals alike can experience historic Daytona Beach through The DAYTONA’s food and beverage programs. At the property’s flagship restaurant, Sir Malcolm, you can soak in the sunset views from the outdoor terrace, overlooking the high energy Victory Circle at ONE DAYTONA. Next, head over to the The Blue Flame for a signature Moonshine cocktail and step back in time to the Prohibition era. With menu and design touches that pay homage to the famous raceway, these pit stops are a must when experiencing the destination.

Chef Ward showcases his fresh, innovative take on classic American fare at Sir Malcolm, the hotel’s full service, on-site restaurant. The eatery gets its name from the legendary British racing motorist, Sir Malcolm, who’s known for setting various land speed records – five on the track in Daytona. The restaurant is upscale and contemporary with international influences and soulful menu items that showcase Ward’s whimsical twist on classic comfort food and pay homage to the area’s iconic racing history.

THE BLUE FLAME

In addition to Sir Malcolm, the DAYTONA turns up the heat year-round at The DAYTONA’s bar, The Blue Flame. Named after the rocket-powered land speed racing vehicle driven by the legendary Gary Gabelich, The Blue Flame features more than 16 custom craft beers on tap and signature Moonshine cocktails in partnership with Sugarland’s Shine, the official Moonshine of NASCAR®. With names like ‘The Intimidator’ and ’The Checkered Flag,’ cocktails here are sure to rev guests up for a great getaway. As an added touch, Moonshine cocktails are served in the original tins that were used to smuggle Moonshine during Prohibition.

Generation Next Cocktail

FUN FACT: During Prohibition, Moonshine was lit on fire to determine its drinkability. A yellow flame meant it was bad to drink; a blue flame meant it was good.
