To make it more convenient for children to receive dental services, dental hygienists from the Department of Health are visiting Volusia County’s elementary schools. During the school day, dental sealant teams assess each child’s oral health and provide nutritional counseling, fluoride treatments, cleanings and dental sealants. There’s no cost, and all children in the school are eligible.
Access to dental services for children is crucial in promoting lifelong oral health. Routine visits to the dentist can help identify potential issues early on and ensure that children develop healthy habits. When parents prioritize dental appointments, they are investing in their child’s future health and well-being. Regular check-ups not only involve examinations and cleanings but also create opportunities for children to learn about proper oral hygiene practices. By instilling these habits early, parents can help their kids maintain healthy teeth and gums throughout their lives, resulting in smiles restored to their natural beauty.
Furthermore, visiting the dentist can be a positive experience for children when the environment is welcoming and friendly. Dental offices that cater to young patients often include fun decorations, engaging activities, and a compassionate staff trained to work with kids. This approach helps alleviate anxiety and makes dental visits something to look forward to rather than fear. By fostering a positive relationship with dental care, children are more likely to continue seeking services as they grow, ensuring that their oral health remains a priority. Ultimately, regular visits to the dentist lay the foundation for a lifetime of healthy habits and confident smiles.
