VCS students, parents and community members,

I know this has been a stressful, uncertain time. I want you to know our staff has been working long hours putting together plans for our students and staff.

We received additional guidance this afternoon from the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) and regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus situation. Here is the new information:

*Schools will remain closed and distance learning will continue until May 1.

*All extra-curricular activities are canceled (field trips, sporting events etc. ) during this time.

*All school district meetings will be held virtually.

*We are awaiting direction on special events like proms and graduations.

*Distance learning started today, Monday, March 30 for students working online and also students using the paper packets.

The VCS distance learning plan or Instructional Continuity Plan (ICP) can be found here: https://www.vcsedu.org/icp.

Edgenuity and Microsoft Teams experiencing temporary issues. Edgenuity experienced a slowdown today and Microsoft Teams had issues with calls. Both are related to unprecedented levels of usage nationwide. Please be patient as adjustments are made to both platforms to handle this high volume.

If you are a parent of an elementary school student and you have questions about core classes, please refer to page 9 of the Instructional Continuity Plan.

We know there will likely be questions. We have set up a Virtual Online Instructional Support Hotline: 386-626-0070. This hotline is for any questions regarding your student’s online instruction. The hotline is open from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, Monday through Friday.
