Oklahoma Joe’s Barbecue Opens Doors Today, Sets November 9 Grand Opening Celebration for its First Florida Location at ONE DAYTONA

The award-winning barbecue of legendary Oklahoma pitmaster Joe Davidson is coming to Central Florida. The first Oklahoma Joe’s Barbecue restaurant outside its home state soft opens its doors at 11 AM today in Victory Circle at ONE DAYTONA, the premier retail, dining and entertainment destination across from the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla. A grand opening celebration will follow on November 9.

A living legend in the global ‘cue community, Davidson has won more than 300 championship titles worldwide. Davidson, CEO and co-founder of Oklahoma Joe’s, is the only pitmaster to ever win the Grand Champion Overall triple crown of BBQ competitions: the Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational BBQ, considered the Super Bowl of barbecue competitions; the World Pork Barbequlossal, billed as America’s most prestigious barbecue competition; and the American Royal World Series of Barbecue, the largest barbecue competition in the world. He’s also won Best BBQ Sauce on the Planet and Best BBQ Dry Rub on the Planet multiple times.

Davidson’s journey to becoming one of the greatest barbecue pitmasters of all time began in 1987 when he hand-built a dozen smokers, sold all 12 at the state fair, and walked away with orders for 108 more. Over the next decade, he designed and built more than one million smokers before selling his manufacturing company to Charbroil. He opened his first Oklahoma Joe’s restaurant in 1995, in Stillwater, Okla., followed shortly thereafter by the famous Oklahoma Joe’s gas station location in Kansas City, Kansas.

Oklahoma Joe’s Barbecue has also been selected “Best Ribs in America” by USA Today, proclaimed “the best BBQ I’ve ever eaten” by world-renown chef Wolfgang Puck, named “One of 13 Places to Eat” by American celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain in Men’s Health magazine, and featured in Gourmet magazine.

Oklahoma Joe’s Barbecue at ONE DAYTONA marks the first franchise location for the restaurant brand. “Mouthwatering barbecue can be found in every corner of Oklahoma,” said Davidson. “We’re thrilled to be able to grow our restaurant beyond our home state and humbled by the opportunity to bring our world-class Oklahoma barbecue to Central Florida.”

The newest restaurant to open at ONE DAYTONA will offer a delectable menu of smoked meats including its signature smoked burnt ends (known as “Joe’s meat candy”), slow smoked ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket and more, along with sides, desserts and a full bar. Specialty items include the BarbeQulossal sandwich (sliced brisket topped with smoked provolone and fried onion rings on a Kaiser bun), a loaded, BBQ smoked baked potato, and Joe’s cherry bread pudding with Bourbon sauce. A children’s menu is also available.

The 6,500-square-foot location features self-service seating indoors and at high top tables on the patio, and full-service seating at the bar. There is a separate takeout kitchen and service window on the side of the restaurant to make it easy for carry-out customers to pay, grab and go right from the parking lot. A private dining room is available by advance reservation, and off-site catering is available for parties of 10 or more.

“We were looking for a dynamic and vibrant family-friendly location for our first-in-market Florida location, and ONE DAYTONA is a perfect fit,” said Matt Hollar, operating partner for OKJ Restaurant Group/Florida. “We can’t wait to start serving up our world-class barbecue alongside ONE DAYTONA’s other best-in-class tenants.”

The restaurant will celebrate its official grand opening on Friday, November 9 at 11 AM with free sandwich cards with any minimum $1 food purchase (to be used at a later date). Founder Joe Davidson will make an appearance in the restaurant to meet and greet with guests. The festivities and free sandwich card offer continue the following day, Saturday, November 10. That evening from 6-9 PM, guests can savor Joe’s famous fare while experiencing the ultimate disco show band, Boogie Freaks, at a free live concert on the nearby ONE DAYTONA Victory Circle plaza (appearances subject to change without notice). A portion of the grand opening celebration proceeds will benefit The NASCAR Foundation.
