DeLand High School is a public, suburban high school located in West Volusia County serving approximately 2,500 students. Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, DeLand High School is one of Volusia County’s largest high schools. DeLand High School serves students from DeLand and Lake Helen and is a magnet for the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, the Engineering Academy, and the Communication Academy.

ENGINEERING ACADEMY – Gold Level Academy

The Academy prepares students for careers in engineering, manufacturing, and technical design through the integration of math and science concepts, real-world problems, and software applications. The Academy uses Amatrol industry-standard equipment and integrated curriculum to connect various areas and levels of manufacturing: Quality assurance; design processes; manufacturing processes; automated materials handling; electrical systems; and fuid power. This program culminates with a semester-long internship working in local industry.

COMMUNICATION ACADEMY – Gold Level Academy

The Academy provides students with rigorous, hands on experiences to prepare them for careers in the information technology industry. Through digital design, digital video production, or journalism program pathways, students are engaged in comprehensive, real world projects; have opportunities to participate in program-specifc internships; and are provided with industry certification opportunities.

CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) 

CTE programs prepare secondary students with technical, academic and employability skills for success in the workplace and in further education. CTE programs may provide post-secondary dual enrollment, industry certification and work-based learning opportunities.

The School offers the following CTE programs: Animal Science and Services; Applied Engineering Technology; Building Trades and Construction Design Technologies; Carpentry; Computer Systems Information Technology (CSIT); Culinary Arts; Digital Media/Multimedia Design; Digital Video Technology; Diversified Career Technology/On-the-Job Training; Early Childhood Education; Emergency Medical Responder; Fashion Marketing; Sport, Recreation, and Entertainment Marketing; Technical Agriculture Operations; and Web Development.
