University High School is the newest high school in Volusia County, featuring a state-of- the-art facility serving approximately 2,700 students from the communities of Orange City, DeBary, Deltona, and DeLand. At University High School innovative technologies, advanced curriculum, and student-centered teaching are the focus in preparing students for success in a rapidly changing world. Some of the curricular offerings include career academies; advanced placement (AP) and honors courses; rigorous Cambridge Assessment International Education (AICE) and career and technical education (CTE) programs; fine and performing arts; and Army JROTC.

ACADEMY OF FINANCE – Gold Level Academy

The Academy trains students for careers in banking and credit; financial planning; international finance and economics; securities and insurance; and accounting through a rigorous curriculum, an on- campus credit union, and internships in the local financial community. ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY

The Academy is designed to teach students to solve a variety of traditional agriscience problems using a scientifc approach to prepare them for careers as laboratory technicians.

BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES ACADEMY

The Academy offers a challenging set of courses in which students learn about various diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and sickle cell. The academy offers a course in human body systems and medical interventions where students learn how healing and modern medicine affect the body.

ENGINEERING ACADEMY

The Academy provides training in engineering and technology-related fields through the national Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Pathways to Engineering program. Students learn how to use industry standard 3D design software that is used by companies like Intel, Lockheed Martin, and Pixar.

The Academies have two pathways: Gaming/Simulation and Robotics. Both pathways offer a sequence of project-based courses aligned with challenging academic standards that prepare students for further education and careers in information technology.

ADDITIONAL CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES

CTE programs prepare secondary students with technical, academic and employability skills for success in the workplace and in further education. CTE programs may provide post-secondary dual enrollment, industry certification and work-based opportunities. The School offers the following CTE programs: Criminal Justice Operations; Culinary Arts; Digital Media/Multimedia Design; Digital Video Technology; Diversified Career Technology/On-the-Job Training; Marketing, Management and Entrepreneurial Principles; and Web Development.
