The Tony and Grammy award-winning Broadway hit “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical (Beautiful)” will make its Daytona Beach premiere at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, at the Peabody Auditorium, 600 Auditorium Blvd. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, and will be available for purchase at the Peabody Box Office, online at www.peabodyauditorium.org or by phone via Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000. Ticket prices start at $55 plus surcharges.
Since its opening in 2014 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre in New York City, the show has become the highest-grossing production in the theatre’s history. The original Broadway cast recording won the 2015 Grammy award for Best Musical Theater Album and launched its first U.S. National Tour in September 2015.
Currently, the tour is performing internationally with productions in Japan, Australia and the United Kingdom. An award-winning production recently concluded its run in London’s West End after opening on Feb. 25, 2015.
“Beautiful” tells the inspiring story of singer Carole King’s rise to stardom, from being part of a songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation. “Beautiful” features a stunning array of beloved songs written by Gerry Goffin/Carole King and Barry Mann/Cynthia Weil, including “I Feel The Earth Move,” “One Fine Day,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “You’ve Got A Friend” and the title song.
