Children ages 5 to 14 can explore Florida’s ecosystems during four two-day camps in August at the Marine Science Center, 100 Lighthouse Drive, Ponce Inlet.
The extra camps, which were added because of the delayed school year, will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on these dates:
· Camp 11: Aug. 10 and 11
· Camp 12: Aug. 13 and 14
· Camp 13: Aug. 17 and 18
· Camp 14: Aug. 20 and 21
Campers will take part in a variety of hands-on activities, including seine netting, exploring the estuary and beach, playing games and making crafts. They will also learn about the center’s mission and meet a live reptile and raptor.
Participants should bring sunscreen, a packed lunch, and snacks and water for the day. They are also asked to wear closed-toe water shoes and a bathing suit under their clothes.
Eight campers will be allowed in each two-day session. The cost will be $80 per child. To register, email mscedu@volusia.org.
